I am a Ph.D. researcher at Hasselt University, working on human-centered artificial intelligence in education. My research explores how AI can meaningfully support teaching and learning while preserving human agency and oversight. I am particularly interested in how educational AI systems can adapt to learners' needs, support educators in making informed decisions, and balance the opportunities of AI with its pedagogical and ethical challenges.

One aspect of my research focuses on the technical design of human-in-the-loop AI systems that provide actionable support for educational decisions. I explore how machine learning, learning analytics, and explainable AI can help educators interpret student progress, identify learning needs, and adapt support accordingly. A central question is how to design AI systems that communicate their recommendations and limitations effectively, supporting informed human judgment rather than replacing it.

Another aspect focuses on AI governance in education, exploring how AI can be integrated into educational practices in ways that are responsible, inclusive, and pedagogically meaningful. I investigate how institutions, educators, and students can navigate the opportunities, risks, and competing values associated with AI, and how different stakeholders can meaningfully influence decisions about its use. My goal is to contribute to governance approaches that go beyond fixed rules, supporting context-sensitive and adaptable boundaries that evolve alongside educational needs and technological developments.
